Each year, Hanszen Laporte supports members of the firm family by investing in their education. Scholarships are given to students who show dedication and commitment to their studies and achieving future goals.
This year, the firm named Iris Hanszen and Ella Peters as its 2025 Hanszen Laporte Scholars.
Iris will be a freshman in the fall at the University of Denver, where she plans to study kinesiology and sports studies, while continuing her passion for figure skating. While there, she also plans to explore subjects such as business, entrepreneurship and biological sciences.
“As someone who has spent years in competitive skating, I’ve seen firsthand how movement, strength, and injury prevention are essential not only to performance but also to long-term health and success,” she wrote in her scholarship application. “I’m passionate about helping people feel strong, capable, and healthy, whether through coaching, injury recovery, or performance enhancement.”
Ella is a junior at James Madison University’s School of Media Arts and Design, where she recently changed her major to include a concentration in journalism while also minoring in digital studies.
“This program enables me to take classes that not only teach me about journalism, but also all forms of media,” she said in her essay. “It will give me experience filming videos, learning how to market for brands, and creating websites.”
Ella is planning to seek out internship opportunities that will help her both network with professionals and get hands-on experience in journalism. She’s also joining the university’s newspaper, The Breeze.
Being able to offer this benefit to our employees and their families is important to our firm. We are proud of these students’ hard work and dedication to their education and look forward to what they’ll accomplish in the future.
