Wm Carl WilsonAssociate
Carl Wilson graduated fourth in his class from the South Texas College of Law, earning his Juris Doctorate. During school, he held a judicial internship with the Honorable David Hittner of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, as well as internships at Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Because of his work, Carl received CALI Awards for Excellence in copyright law, agency and partnership, Texas wills, estates and trusts law, and federal income taxation.
After graduation, he worked for two international AM 100 firms as a labor and employment associate, where he represented large, multi-national businesses and Fortune 100 and 500 companies in wage and hour, discrimination, and retaliation claims and counseled his clients on federal, state, and international employment laws. Seeing the need for a more client-focused firm, Carl joined Hanszen & Laporte in 2017 where he focuses his practice on employment, entertainment, estates, and probate matters.
As an undergraduate from Moore’s School of Music at the University of Houston, Carl represented the employer and production side of some of the most prestigious music organizations in Texas and nationally. In these roles, he negotiated contracts with labor unions, cleared intellectual property licenses for productions, and administered single- and multi-employer collective bargaining agreements.
On and ever upward. Forward never backward.
