Amy Mitchell has been practicing law for over 21 years, and enjoys an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell's Peer Review Ratings. She brings a broad perspective to litigation, having worked directly for insurance carriers, such as AIG, Farmers Insurance, Liberty Mutual and USAA where she has represented both the carriers directly and their insureds, as well as for mid sized litigation firms in the Houston area.

During her 21 year tenure as an attorney, she has handled over 2000 litigated cases of varying complexity from inception to conclusion. She has handled complex litigation including class actions, multi party death cases and appeals. Her experience has included trying approximately 50 cases to conclusion, handling 500+ mediations, and 15-20 arbitrations. She has extensive experience in all aspects of personal injury, civil and commercial litigation. Along with extensive personal injury litigation experience she also defends a number of different consumer finance cases arising out of alleged violations of TILA, the Texas Finance Code, the FDCPA, FCRA and other consumer debt violations. She has successfully argued a case to the court of appeals related to the arbitration clause in credit card contracts. She has recently helped plan and conduct a seminar on Immigration Law which was presented to over 100 lawyers and judges. She has enjoyed working towards a quick, reasonable and efficient resolution of cases directly with claims handlers, clients and opposing counsel.

Amy earned her law degree from the Case Western Reserve and a Bachelors degree in Literature from S.U.N.Y.- Oneonta. She is licensed to practice in all Texas State courts, the Federal Courts of the Southern District, Northern, Western and Eastern District of Texas. Amy has practiced before the courts in many counties in Texas and before the state courts of appeals in both Houston and Fort Worth. Amy has practiced in every federal district in Texas.

Amy was born in Brooklyn, New York. She lived in New York, Florida, and Ohio finding her true home in Sugar Land, Texas. Amy is engaged to Jake Messinger and their blended family consists of Amy's son, William and Jake's two children, Colin and Grace.

Amy is also very active in the community and performs a significant amount of community service in Fort Bend County. She has served on the 5A Grievance Committee of the State Bar of Texas for the last 6 years and was the chair of the committee for 2 years. She is on the Board of Directors of the Exchange Club of Sugar Land. She has chaired numerous community events and helped raised hundreds of thousands of dollars towards the prevention of child abuse, to fighting domestic abuse, to fighting illiteracy, and to providing toys to underprivileged children for Christmas.
